Why not complete dictionary for borrowing??
It is odd that this very respected dictionary copyrighted in 1934 is not available for borrowing on the Internet Archive while 12 of the 20 volumes (as of Aug. 2022) of the Oxford English Dictionary second edition copyrighted in 1989 are available for borrowing. Copyright on this M&W dictionary will expire in 2029. Perhaps someone will upload a pdf version of it then.

By good luck!
I have been trying to find an older copy of Webster's Guide to Pronunciation to help with proofing an e-version of a 1920s book that used Webster's version of diacritics. By chance and good luck I found it in this sample of pages.

It's a saleperson's tool
It's not the dictionary, but neither is it a bunch of random pages. It's a saleperson's tool: notice the advertising pages, the excursions into word history, the testimonial letters, the advertisement for dictionary stands, and so on. An unusual item, and evidence of how serious people were about the value of the dictionary. Five stars!

I own this dictionary, which happens to be the best English dictionary. This early Merriam-Webster edition is more comprehensive than the Noah Webster edition (also labeled Second Edition - however, dating to 1979), although the latter obviously contains more modern words.
As other library members point out, this is not the full dictionary. All you get here are the plates -- which is actually quite useful. I hope the full dictionary gets scanned soon. It is by far the best dictionary in existence, perhaps with the exception of the OED, although it still has some advantages over its British rival.

Almost the entirety of the section "A Guide to Pronunciation" (pp.xxiii-liii) is missing, which was the reason I visited this in the first place. Deeply disappointed, as this was the only copy of the said section I could find online.

Look elsewhere. This contains random pages from the dictionary.

Not worth the time to download.
this is around 300 random pages, out of 3000, of Webster's 2nd, not necessarily in order.
Of little or no value.
